Been absent from the blog for a bit but time to come back. Heard the song Arms of Mary on the radio the other day and thought ... it has been awhile since I pulled out some Chilliwack. They have always been a favorite live act of mine. A Canadian classic. I was looking at their Wikipedia page and forgot how many great songs they have recorded. I remember the first time I heard the band was the song Groundhog. I was in grade 6 and thought that was such a cool song with the crazy guitar riff and quirky lyrics. I bought the album "All Over You", which I still have and had Bill sign when I filmed them at a QSession for Q107 held at The Beach Studios. I think I will have to dig up a song or 2 from that session and post them on YouTube. The images that follow were taken at a New Years Eve concert from 1979 ( please correct me on dates if I am wrong). The Concert was with Chilliwack and Doucette. It took place in both Calgary and Edmonton on the same night. While Doucette was playing in Calgary Chilliwack was performing in Edmonton. While the support acts ( in Calgary it was All The Rage in Paris) were playing the bands flew to the other city for the performance there. It was an interesting night as I got to see and shoot 3 bands whose music I enjoyed very much. So do enjoy the Chilliwack photos and I will be sure to follow up with some Doucette and All the Rage in Paris as well.
